Business and Education
Educational institutions, whether at the secondary or university level, need appropriate emergency plans in place to be able to respond to the needs of students and staff during a disaster. Such disasters can range from naturally occurring events like the evacuation of major universities in New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina or may be the result of on-site criminal activity - or threats of such activity - that have occurred at major North American universities over the past few years (e.g., recent university shootings in Virginia and Illinois and threats of violence to a major university in British Columbia). Our sister company, the Contingency Management Consulting Group, has specific experience in assisting educational organizations - both at the secondary and university level - in developing, implementing, and testing emergency plans. Most recently, CMCG staff have worked with a major university in the U.S. to review existing emergency management plans, provided improvements to this plan, provided training on the revised plan, and validated the updated plan with a two-day training program and tabletop exercise.
